Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE — on publication]
This Privacy Policy explains how iTelescope Pty Ltd (ABN 90 151 752 028), trading as StellarDock ("StellarDock," "we," "us," "our"), collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use www.stellardock.net, app.stellardock.net, and info.stellardock.net (together, the "Service").
We take your privacy seriously. Our core policy is straightforward: we do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we hold ourselves to strong privacy protections — including GDPR-equivalent standards — for members everywhere, not only where legally required.
1. What information we collect
- Account information — name, email address, phone number. Used to create and administer your account and for transactional communication.
- Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Service usage data — bookings, observation plans, session logs, and credit history, used to operate the Service.
- Imaging data — the FITS files and calibration frames captured during your sessions, held so you can download them.
- Technical and analytics data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and cookies (see section 2).
Your email is used for transactional notifications tied to your account activity. Marketing emails are opt-in only and can be turned off at any time in account settings. Your phone number may be used for account verification and recovery — never for marketing.
2. Cookies and analytics
- Essential cookies — always on; required for the site and app to function.
- Analytics (Google Analytics 4) — used to understand how visitors use the site. For visitors in the EEA/UK, analytics only runs with your opt-in consent.
- Advertising — not currently used. If we introduce limited interest-based advertising in future, it will require your explicit, separate consent and this Policy will be updated in advance.
3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
For visitors in the EEA/UK, we rely on:
- Contract necessity — delivering the Service you subscribed to.
- Consent — marketing emails and analytics cookies.
- Legitimate interest — security, fraud prevention, and service reliability.
You may withdraw consent at any time.
4. Who we share your data with
Only the infrastructure providers strictly necessary to deliver the Service:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting infrastructure, region us-west-2 (Oregon, USA). For EEA/UK members this means your data is processed outside the EEA/UK. AWS is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, with Standard Contractual Clauses as a fallback safeguard. [Legal to confirm DPF status before publication]
- Stripe — all financial transactions. PCI-DSS compliant; we never store your card details.
We do not sell personal information to third parties.
5. Data retention
- Account records, billing history, and invoices — kept for 7 years for tax and financial record-keeping obligations.
- Imaging data (FITS files and calibration frames) — kept for 6 months from capture, then permanently deleted from our servers. Please download your data within this window.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion (subject to the retention obligations above)
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (EEA/UK) or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [privacy contact address — to confirm].
7. Age policy
You must be 18 or older to create an individual StellarDock account. Organisational and group accounts are administered by the sponsoring organisation, which is responsible for any users it grants access to. StellarDock does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including the security certifications of AWS and Stripe. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International visitors
StellarDock is operated from Victoria, Australia. While Australian law governs our operations, we are committed to honouring the data protection rights described in this Policy for members everywhere — including GDPR-equivalent rights for EU and UK visitors.
10. Changes to this Policy
We will notify members of material changes via email and/or a notice on the Service before the change takes effect.
